Okay I’m backtracking a little here…was too tired to be on the computer yesterday. So bear with me…
Last time I posted was at about 5pm on Wednesday. Not much went on, I don’t think. We watched a few episodes of The Office and just kinda hung out. It was really not all that exciting. Lots of things going on as far as tests and checks and stuff, but that was about it. There was a lot of this going on:
My parents and sis & Matt came over at about 9:30/10ish. They brought Jordan’s mum that my sister made:
We hung out awhile and they left at about 11. Got another test, and they decided to hold off on the Pitocin until 4am so I’d have a chance to sleep. Little did they know, my water broke at 11:45pm, just as we were getting ready for a peaceful night of sleep. At first the contractions weren’t too bad…but by about 2:30am, they were getting pretty nasty. I tolerated until about 3:15am, when I finally beeped the nurse in to see if there are ways to help with it. Stood in the shower for awhile, which helped…and then sat on a birthing ball for a little while. At this point I was ready to get my epidural. The nurse (Carlie) told me what all we need to do to get this started…she put on a couple of bags of fluids and some anti-nausea medicine in my IV. It took about 40 minutes for all of this to get into my system. She called the anesthesiologist at 4:25am, and he arrived at 4:40. Time passed by very slowly while we waited for his arrival.
The anesthesiologist was pretty cool. I don’t remember it taking very long for him to get things going. Maybe 20 minutes or so? I felt a heck of a lot better after the epidural. After everything was set, Carlie monitored the contractions on the screen…and said…”you just had a contraction, did you feel that?” I proudly told her no, and then took a 3-hour nap.
Dr. Moser came in at about 7 to check on me. She was all ready to break my water…and then I was like, well that kinda happened 7 hours ago. LOL. She checked me real quick, and said that maybe by 9 or so we’d be ready to go. Well, 9 and 10 came and went…and we were still waiting. I was finally dialated to 9cm at about 10:30…so we waited until about 11:45 before we got all set up to push. I worked with another nurse, Mary, who was great. She knew exactly what was going on and guided us through the whole thing. Dr. Moser arrived at about 12:30pm and joined in the party. Most of the pushing had been done at this point, so I think I only pushed another 3 or 4 times before Jordan arrived.
