Baby was not cooperating as much today as he was last week. He seems to have found a rather comfortable way to sit, so he just kinda sat there and didn’t move around much. We tried to wake him up to see if he would turn around so we could see his face, but he would wake up, act all put out (waving his arms around), turn quarter of the way, and then turn back around to go to sleep. LOL. He knew that he was being recorded on a DVD on a fancy machine, I guess.

Nevertheless, our OB said that everything looks really good. Everything’s normal, and all the organs are present. His spine also looks good (yes, we got to look at his back quite a bit). He’s really cute. We saw his little hands and feet. He’s much bigger than the last time, and everything is more defined.

The doc also said that I haven’t been eating enough. She said I should have gained another 8 pounds or so. So please send food my way. ) In any case, she thinks that it might have been due to the progesterone that I was taking…I can stop taking those now (thank God) and my appetite should be better because of it.

I’ve converted the DVD into a video that you can play on the website. Go check it out and see all the 3D pictures. They’re pretty amazing.

Dr. Nuessner measured him (we’ll assume “him” until we find out otherwise) at 9 weeks and 2 days. I think he’s a couple of days ahead of schedule. LOL. His heart rate was at 173 bpm. It was really cool today ‘cuz we got to see him move around. He would be still for like 30 seconds, and then he would move around quite a bit. At one point he looked like he was dancing – he was moving his arms and legs around. It was CUTE. ) We tried to take a video of the movement. We’ll bring our camera with us next time to get a better video. This will do for now.

Our next appointment is in a couple of weeks. We’ll do another sonogram, and then we’ll be handed off to the OB at our 12-week appointment where we’ll have a 3D sonogram. Can’t wait.

My first OB appointment was with Dr. Nuessner, the doctor’s PA. She’s really cool – I saw her last year for my physical and at that point, we had talked about preconception things. So she was really excited to see me again. Greg came with me to the appointment. It was pretty cool. She went through my blood tests and stuff…said everything looks pretty good, but that my progesterone level was a little low (not super low, just border-line low). They’ve got me on progesterone suppository right now. I would be on it another 6 weeks or so. Yup.

She said my hCG levels have skyrocketed, which is a really good sign. It went from 4000 to 20,000 in 5 days. We also found out that my blood type is AB+. I never knew that. LOL.

Anyway, we did a sonogram, and saw the little tiny baby. The heart was just beating away at 130 bpm. S/he is at exactly the right size. We measured, and she could tell how far along s/he is. It was pretty accurate. For now, we’re looking at a October 2nd due date. )

I’ve got another follow up appointment in a couple of weeks where they’ll monitor the heartbeat and the baby’s size some more.

This is an update to the first post. We finally got a hold of my parents at about 10pm. My Mom answered the phone, and I chatted with her a little bit…and asked her if my Dad was awake. She said no, and I asked her to go wake him up. I guess she thought that I wanted to talk to him…?…’cuz she gave him the phone and then left. So I told my Dad, and he got really excited. Then I asked him where Mom went…and he said, well I can tell her! But I wanted to tell my Mom…so Dad had to go looking for her. Ha ha ha. When I told my Mom, she was super excited!!! Hee hee. She started asking all these questions. Anyway, we didn’t chat too long ‘cuz it was kinda late. Hopefully we’ll get to see them soon.

So we found out today that we’re going to have a baby! Actually, I found out last night, but it was like at 11:30 and I didn’t think that Greg would appreciate me waking him up to tell him. Plus I wanted to wait and make sure before I tell him (I knew he would be super excited). I took one of those HPTs last night and kinda thought “Hmmm! That’s interesting!” when it was positive. I took it again this morning and it was positive also…so I figured it was a good time to go pay a visit to my OB.

I got an appointment to do a blood test at 8:30. We got another sample and tested with another pregnancy test. The lab tech said…most definitely positive! ) She then took my blood and said I would need to schedule another appointment for a prenatal check-up. That’s scheduled for 2/11.

I told Greg when he got home from work. He was really really really excited. ) We started calling our families. It was pretty fun. Then we went to dinner at Cristina’s to celebrate. Hee hee. I’m still waiting to call my parents since my Mom doesn’t get home until 10 tonight.
