Okay I’m backtracking a little here…was too tired to be on the computer yesterday. So bear with me…

Last time I posted was at about 5pm on Wednesday. Not much went on, I don’t think. We watched a few episodes of The Office and just kinda hung out. It was really not all that exciting. Lots of things going on as far as tests and checks and stuff, but that was about it. There was a lot of this going on:

My parents and sis & Matt came over at about 9:30/10ish. They brought Jordan’s mum that my sister made:

We hung out awhile and they left at about 11. Got another test, and they decided to hold off on the Pitocin until 4am so I’d have a chance to sleep. Little did they know, my water broke at 11:45pm, just as we were getting ready for a peaceful night of sleep. At first the contractions weren’t too bad…but by about 2:30am, they were getting pretty nasty. I tolerated until about 3:15am, when I finally beeped the nurse in to see if there are ways to help with it. Stood in the shower for awhile, which helped…and then sat on a birthing ball for a little while. At this point I was ready to get my epidural. The nurse (Carlie) told me what all we need to do to get this started…she put on a couple of bags of fluids and some anti-nausea medicine in my IV. It took about 40 minutes for all of this to get into my system. She called the anesthesiologist at 4:25am, and he arrived at 4:40. Time passed by very slowly while we waited for his arrival.

The anesthesiologist was pretty cool. I don’t remember it taking very long for him to get things going. Maybe 20 minutes or so? I felt a heck of a lot better after the epidural. After everything was set, Carlie monitored the contractions on the screen…and said…”you just had a contraction, did you feel that?” I proudly told her no, and then took a 3-hour nap.

Dr. Moser came in at about 7 to check on me. She was all ready to break my water…and then I was like, well that kinda happened 7 hours ago. LOL. She checked me real quick, and said that maybe by 9 or so we’d be ready to go. Well, 9 and 10 came and went…and we were still waiting. I was finally dialated to 9cm at about 10:30…so we waited until about 11:45 before we got all set up to push. I worked with another nurse, Mary, who was great. She knew exactly what was going on and guided us through the whole thing. Dr. Moser arrived at about 12:30pm and joined in the party. Most of the pushing had been done at this point, so I think I only pushed another 3 or 4 times before Jordan arrived.

In other news…I never got around to posting about the baby shower that I had with my hockey teammates on Saturday. We met up at Maggiano’s at 1pm. It was fun ‘cuz I hadn’t seen them in forever…Mandi, Leslie, Marcy, Katie, and Luci came. Good food as usual, and had a blast hanging out. They got us all sorts of cool stuff. Okay, well, they got Jordan all sorts of cool stuff. ) I got to hear all about the hockey league and recent happenings. It was fun. ) I’ll have pics for everyone when I get home. LOL.

More likely tomorrow. Here’s what’s up…

We went for our weekly checkup this morning. They were running a bit late so we sat around for awhile. When we finally got in there, Dr. Moser took a look at my blood pressure and was a little worried about it ‘cuz my feet were also swollen. She asked if we’re totally against induction…which we weren’t. She said she’d be more comfortable if we induced today or at the latest tonight since my fluids were also a little low. She had her assistant check with the Labor & Delivery area to see if they have any rooms available. And off we went. I guess that’s the advantage of having the doctor’s office being connected to the hospital! We marched on over with an entourage of nurses (I think it was lunch time and they just wanted to come along) and got me all set up. They got me on some Cytotec to help with the dialation and stuff at about 1. I’ll get another dose at 6…and then again at 11 if I need it. If not, they’ll start the Pitocin.

My doc came by a little while ago to check on me and to say hi. She said that she’ll come by in the morning to check on me. Her goal is to have the baby out by Noon tomorrow. Wheeeeee!

My sister and parents are coming over some time later tonight. Since the baby most likely won’t come until tomorrow morning, they can take their time. I think all the San Antonio people are just hanging out waiting for news so they can drive up. Should be exciting! More later!

She used to be a labor & delivery nurse, so she’s pretty familiar with how everything works. She’s always a wealth of information when we visit with her. Anyway, Jordan’s moving like a champ, and everything looks good. She said I’m a little over 1cm dilated. It’s a good sign that something’s happening. She was slightly concerned about us going to Austin this weekend, but she checked with Dr. Moser and all is well. They gave us a copy of my paperwork to take with us just in case.

So we’ll pack up the car this weekend when we go to the game. We’ll bring the car seat and suitcase and stuff with us just in case. Dr. Moser doesn’t think that we’d have any problems, so it’s just precaution that we’re bringing all this stuff with us.

We’ve got 14 days until Mr. Jordan’s scheduled to arrive. How exciting! I also ran into my neighbor this afternoon, and she found out last week that they’re expecting their 4th! She’s due in May…so it’ll be cool for Jordan to have a playmate nearby. ) Very cool.

We went up to the Southlake Fire Department to have a certified car seat inspector install our car seat this morning. The guy was really cool. It started raining a little bit so he let us pull into the carport where the ambulance usually goes (the ambulance was out on a call). It was a pretty easy task for my car, but it took quite a bit of wrestling to get the seat base installed in Greg’s car. Heh heh. Glad that’s done. He said we can stop by after Jordan’s born to have the seat checked again if we want. Wheeeee.

Not much else is going on…I realized this morning that the user manual of the car seat was missing. Can’t find it anywhere. Maybe I brought it to work and left it there…? ‘Cuz it sure ain’t in the house. / I’ll look on Monday.

I’ve been trying to avoid buying new shoes…but over the past couple of weeks, this has proven to be a necessary evil. It was increasingly difficult to stuff my swollen feet/ankles into the Dr. Martens that I wear to work (which I love). And now it’s even hard to fit them into my Keen sandals. Meh. So what that comes down to, is that my house shoes fit, and that’s about it. Of course I’m not about to wear my house shoes to work (not that it hasn’t crossed my mind). So the search was on for new shoes.

After many hours of searching on Zappos and talking to a really nice customer service rep, I picked these Dansko Corinne clogs that looked professional. But when they came, they turn out to be too stiff and my swollen feet were complaining about them. So I gotta send those back. Greg and I went to The Walking Company tonight in Highland Village, and found these Merrell Encore Breeze (which I had also admired on Zappos previously). What’s better…was that they were having a Merrell sale that’s 20% off.

They have a breathable mesh-like upper that stretches a little, which helps to accommodate the growing height of my feet. They fit pretty well, and don’t look too terribly sporty to draw attention at work. I’ll probably just have to wear thin socks with them. Hopefully I can continue to wear these after Jordan comes so I can at least get my money’s worth. Ha ha.

We went to visit with Dr. Moser today for our 37th week checkup. Everything’s going well. We worked on an absolute last date for delivery if Jordan doesn’t come before that. She doesn’t want him to cook past 41 weeks, so we’ll have an appointment to induce on the 8th. We got a few pics of Jordan this time around…he’s running out of room in there. His head is set really low and so his face is all squished up against me. Ha ha ha.

We also got some good shots of his hands and feet. It was funny…during the appointment he was actually kicking me.

Here’s the video also if you’re interested:

Yup yup. So from here on out, we’ll have a checkup every week until he comes. Wheeee!

Upon recommendations from our doctor and our way cool neighbors from across the street, we went and checked out Dr. Elizabeth Dickey. Actually, yesterday I called to try to get a prenatal consultation appointment with her, but she’s booked up through after Jordan’s born. With such high recommendations, we decided to stop by to check out the office anyway. I asked the receptionist if we could look around a little, but without an appointment, it was kinda against HIPAA rules, which was fine. Dr. Dickey had just gone into a couple of appointments. I picked up some forms to fill out so we’d have those ready and we left.

We were talking for a little bit outside, and then one of the office staff (nurse?) came out with Dr. Dickey…she got her to come visit with us for a little bit, which was really nice of her. We talked with her for about 10-15 minutes. She’s really cool and we really like her. So I think we’ll go with her as Jordan’s pediatrician. Sure glad that’s done. Wheeee.

We’ve also started our serious search for a pediatrician. It appears that we’ve procrastinated slightly too much on this one…one of the ones that we wanted to meet (she comes highly recommended by our way cool neighbors and also recommended by my doctor) doesn’t have a consultation appointment until after Jordan’s born. We’ll probably go up there tomorrow and check out the office anyway. We have a meeting with another guy next week. We hope to be able to pick from one of them and then be able to tell my doctor who the pediatrician will be. Wish us luck.
